Week 5--Google Wallet

Smart phones? Powerful Google?

I am sure Google Wallet astonished everyone in the class on Monday. I always think that Google was a powerful search engine. But I never realize that Google will someday be so…crazy!

Let us think about this: If one day Google Wallet is used by most of the people in U.S, or even more, people in different countries, what will happen? Every one will use Google’s smart phone, everyone will use the software- Google Wallet, and every one will use the credit cards that can only be used on the Google Wallet. Then, Google find itself run such a successful business. Google may monopoly a series of business if they want. They can monopolize which credit card people will use. If Google Wallet only offers the services for MasterCard instead of debit card, the MasterCard may be used more widely. Likewise, if Google Wallet can only be used on Nexus S: The new Android phone from Google, and Iphone and blackberry may not be as popular as they are today…

So many things may happen because of this reformation in payment by credit card including the security problems…

Week 4 Hardware&Privacy

You are at serious risk!

Just as some people can steal the private information from the others, they can also steal the personal identified information in various ways including stealing the wallet from the others in order to get the ID card, searching for the papers you have thrown away in the trash bin and so on. With your social security number, your name, your personal information, it’s horrible to consider that you can be easily replaced by another person. He or she can later enjoy your life. At that time he becomes who you are.

They steal your life from you.

When I come to America, I found people using credit card or debit card everywhere. But one thing astonishes me: At most of the time in most places, people just swipe the card and sign their name on the receipt then everything is done with your signature. What will happen if you lost your credit card and someone takes it? What they need is only swipe it and use it! And you will never know what happened until you realized you had lost your card or check your bills online finding something strange. I mean, the easiness to use the card maybe one of the reasons the information can be stolen so easily. We can set up keys for each credit card. Surely it will bring some troubles if someone forgets their keys. However, it is safer because only the owner himself or herself know the keys and no one can easily use them. In the future, when the technology is more developed, the fingerprint identification can be used more in this area instead of personal signature on the receipt because one’s fingerprint is unique.

Week 3 Privacy&Social Media

Privacy is dead.
Generally speaking, Internet is a highly developed technology which enables people to have a better understanding of life as well as communicate to each other with higher speed and more convenience. However, it happens to us there is also a group of people using this technique to steal other people’s privacy information in order to make fun of or even worse, to blackmail, to threaten others. Face book, twitter and other social media, mainly for chatting and having fun are used as shortcuts to steal private information.
Setting up the private settings on the face book page, protecting the computers with the antivirus software, throwing the rubbish email away in our box every day are not just enough to protect our privacy. We don’t know at what point the photos we posted in our face book pages will be shown to the public; we may don’t understand why the pictures which are supposed to be shared only to our closest friends are there. It doesn’t make any sense.
Some people may think it’s funny for making the jokes just like they are making the jokes at their friends. But people who are laughed at are only the ones who want to share the happiness of life with others.
We should respect, for the knowledge, for the humanity, for every individual, no matter how advanced our technology is.

Week 2-Social media

I am always wondering why twitter and facebook can be so successful among billions of people in the world. It seems the Internet not only provide the convinence of searching the information instantly, but aslo satisfying the needs of human beings.

Nowadays, twitter, facebook, gmail and other social media occupy great role in the society of communication and become one of the most indispensable part in our life.Human beings find it inevitable to keep in touch with each other thus making them more and more involved both in society and personal life.Psychologically and sociologically,it's just not an entertainment to tweet a one hundred character on the twitter :sharing personal funny or embarressed acnecdotes, making a little joke of others who may say something really stupid ,complaining their affection of heavy hardwork in college or even showing mad at a professor who throws out tons of homework but still act as if he left nothing.Families, friends, teachers, colleagues, business partners......Many people find it satisfied using  the social media. With facebook,we can play games, post pirctures of families, handsome boyfriend or funny close friends, exchange messages, see how others spend the whole twenty-four hours.

The technology changes day after day. It's hard to imagine twenty years ago,our grandparents have to carry a 10-ounce telephone talking to each other at that time and this heavy phone did absolutely represents the wealth while making the elders happy and proud.I may never believe that in this short period of time, the computers could "lose so much weight"-from the size of a room's big to a handbag's small. With the convenience and speed the new techonology offers, the focus on human needs takes more place in modern society and the entertainment, excitement and fun are not the main part of the succeess of business, yet how to make the life more enjoyable, peaceful and comfortable take the place.
